BRASILIA - UTOPIA OR CONCRETE CARBUNCLE? (2013)
Video and short article which revisits the controversial city, upon Oscar Niemeyer’s death. I’ve posted images of many of his iconic buildings on here before, so this is a work in Brasilia by another great mid-century designer. Photo © Joana França (via ArcDaily)

IN RESIDENCE: STEPHAN WEISHAUPT (2017)
A look inside this beautiful 1932 Art Deco home, filled with Modernist furniture. “The space.. it immediately puts you in a very relaxed mood. It’s my quiet spot.”
Villa Savoye, Le Corbusier, 1931
FRENCH POSTCARDS (1979)
Corbusier’s best-known building can be seen in this movie, where it plays the home of one of the characters. It’s well worth visiting in person, too, though, particularly to appreciate its essential irony: the ‘Machine for Living’, which set out to eschew aesthetic concerns in favour of pure functionality, was so cold and damp that it made its original occupants ill - but it is also incredibly beautiful, poised like a spacecraft on it’s square of lawn in Poissy.
